Due to the redemptive significance of the resurrection of Jesus, God's people began to meet to worship God on the first day of the week, rather than the last day. So in a very true sense - Christians are aware of, and worship in light of - the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus every week on the Lord's Day (Sunday). Nevertheless, what we call Easter - or better, Resurrection Sunday, has become a time set aside to remember these aformentioned truths especially. At First Family Church, we gather at the following days and times to worship in light of the holiday:
Friday - April 18th- Good Friday
Jesus was crucified and killed on a Friday. Then he rose on the following Sunday. This Friday has come to be known as "Good Friday," and we call it that because Jesus took upon himself the wrath of all who would believe. He didn't deserve to die but he substituted himself in our place so that we can be forgiven and declared righteous - and that is a very good thing. Join us at 6:00pm on the Friday leading up to Resurrection Sunday for a time of worshiping God for his great love for us.
Sunday - April 20 - Sunrise Service
Every day, the sun rises and the night flees. This is a daily reminder of how God the Son defeated the darkness in the world and that he will one day come again to usher in the New Heavens and New Earth. Join us at 6:30am on Resurrection Sunday for a "sunrise service" at the top of the hill on our property (weather permitting). The service will be over by 7:30am. After words and before Sunday school - join us for pancakes and sausage breakfast.
Resurrection Sunday
We will be having our normal service at 10:30AM. Check with your Sunday school class before this day to make sure it is meeting.
