Nick Neves

Background:
Nick first trusted in Jesus after being involved in AWANA children’s ministry and seeing the gospel at work in the lives of his grandparents. Nick completed his bachelor’s degree in English Literature from California Polytechnic University in 2000 and was also involved with Campus Crusade for Christ at that school. After serving for 3 years as the Pastor of Youth at Granada Baptist Church in Livermore, Nick was ordained as a minister of the gospel. He served as pastor of student ministries at First Family Church from 2005 to 2012. In 2006 Nick graduated with a Master’s of Divinity degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. 

Ministry:
In 2012, Nick obeyed God in assuming the lead pastor role at First Family. He has a passion for truth and a desire to see people trust in Christ through the preaching of God’s Word. Nick’s spiritual gifting is shepherding and teaching, and he is committed to using those gifts for ‘the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ’ (Eph. 4:12). 

Family:
Nick shares the blessing of ministry with his wife Missie and their five boys, Adam, Samuel, Henry, Justus and Benjamin. Lord willing, they hope to adopt a child in the near future. Nick and Missie are dedicated to glorifying God through the covenant of marriage and the stewardship of parenthood, and rejoice in loving God and His people.


Paul Abeyta

Background: 

Paul grew up with a cultural Roman Catholic, and atheistic/agnostic background. After attending a special outreach event with a friend from First Family Church in the early part of 2004, he came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior after hearing the gospel and being changed (born again). He has been worshiping, and serving God here at First Family Church ever since. He has a BA degree in Liberal Studies with a History Option from Cal State Universtity East Bay, and a Master's of Divinity degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.

Ministry: 

Paul is a minister of the gospel and is passionate about helping people develop their walks with the Lord as they grow in their understanding of God's holiness and the truth as it is in Christ. He has a heart for shepherding, teaching, and worshiping according to the Word of God. He serves at FFC in pastoral ministry, as an Elder, over the Student Ministries, and in administration roles.

Family: 

Paul met his wife, Anna, in the summer of 2007 at FFC when she was home from college. He knew soon thereafter that she was the woman God intended for him to marry. They were engaged in November 2007 and married in July of 2008. They have been blessed with two sons - Silas Daniel and Oliver Michael and two daughters - Nora Grace and Maisie Jane.


Chris Watson

Background: 

Chris was fortunate to grow up in a Christian family that valued church attendance. At a young age he realized Jesus’ incredible love and sacrifice for him and has dedicated himself to study God’s Word and find opportunities to share the love of Christ. Chris graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Baptist University, holds a M.Div. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a D.Min. from Golden Gate. Prior to serving with First Family Church, Chris was pastor of Grace Christian Fellowship, 

Ministry: 

In addition to his pastoral and elder role with First Family Church, Chris is the Director of the Telegraph Ministry Center in Oakland. This ministry provides emergency food and clothing to needy individuals and families that struggle with issues related to poverty. 

Family: 

Chris and Colene began dating in high school and have two energetic and intelligent sons, Jonathan and Caleb. Colene is an educator and considers it a blessing to be able to homeschool her children.


Shawn Linder

Elder: Chairman of the Board

Background:
Shawn grew up in a family that had a belief in God, but he was never taught that faith in Christ was more than mere belief. Through a life altering car accident, he was driven to the realization that he could not control his life. The knowledge that there was a God and that he was sinful and that he needed him, struck him hard. In that moment, he dropped to his knees and cried out to God in repentance and submission to his authority. Ever since then, Shawn has been active in the life of the church, as well as in his personal walk with Christ. 


Ministry: 

Shawn is the current Chairman of the Board and overseas the monthly board meetings and all other elder duties. Part of his board duties also include overseeing the facility and making choices concerning the grounds and building. He is passionate about seeing young people dedicate their lives to Christ and has served in the Student Ministry at FFC for many years.

Family:

Shawn and Eileen have been married for over 30 years. They have four children, Andrew, Aubrey, Amanda and Adrian. Andrew and Aubrey both graduated from CBU, Amanda is currently pursing her B.A. there and Lord willing, Adrian will find himself there next year!. Eileen is also very involved and serves with the student ministry as well.


Eric Reither

Ministry: 

Eric is a long time member of the board of elders and serves as the secretary over the board. He is also the liaison to the women's ministry. Eric also oversees those interested in becoming a member at First Family Church. If that describes you, please contact Eric to schedule a Q & A meeting after completing the new members class. 

Family: 

Eric and Sandy have been happily married for many years. Sandy serves with the Student Minstry on Sunday and Wednesday and they have two children; Joshua who is a surgical tech and Megan who is pursing her B.A. at Sac St.


Background:

Clint benefited from growing up in a family that has faith in Christ. Clint received Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior after clearly hearing the gospel and seeing his need for a Savior at a Christian camp when he was 16. He graduated from Sonoma State University with a BA degree in business. Clint is grateful for the opportunity to serve Christ at First Family Church and is blessed by being a part of the church body here.


Ministry: 

Clint serves as an elder and overseas the men's ministry and in that, the 11th commandment ministry. He is also a team captain for the 11th commandment ministry and is very involved with the student ministry.

Family: 

Clint and Valerie were married in 2003 and have two girls, Jackie and Karli. Valerie is also involved with First Family Church's Student Minstry and serves along side her husband there, as well as being involved with the Women's Ministry team.

Matthew Sherman

Background: 
Matt grew up going to Trinity Baptist Church in Livermore, and was baptized when he was 8 years old. It was not until he joined the youth group that he fully grasped that having faith in God, was more than just believing in Him, it is also a relationship. From this point on, he has constantly sought grace to serve God through different ministries in the Church. Matt graduated from California Baptist University with a Bachelors in Christian Studies, and from Gateway Seminary with a Masters of Divinity

Ministry: 
As a youth, Matt developed a passion for leading people in worship through music. God has blessed Matt with many different opportunities to lead others in worshipping God through songs. Matt also has a heart for seeing youth and children come to know Christ in a personal way. He served as the Youth and Children’s Intern at Bridgeport Christian Fellowship, where he enjoyed not only getting to share the gospel with the youth, but also getting to know them and building relationships. He leads our Sunday morning worship services, and also serves in the Student Ministry.

Family: 
Matt recently got engaged to Torie, who he met while serving on one of our Haiti mission trips.  Torie is pursuing for her Masters degree in social work while also working for Pillars of Hope, which is an organization that helps women get out of human trafficking.  Both Matt and Torie look forward to serving alongside each other and supporting each other in the different ministries they are in, as well as consoling each other when the 49ers aren’t doing well (so a lot this season!). 


Jill Divine

BACKGROUND:

Jill recieved Christ as her Savior during her senior year of High School. She was invited to church by a friend and began attending youth group, and realized that she needed Jesus there. Jill has been teaching preschool since she was 18, and currently works at the in Shape Health Club in Antioch as the Kid's Club lead. 

MINISTRY: 

Jill and her family have attended First Family Church since June of 2005. During that time, she has taught Sunday School, served on and lead the Women's Ministry team and currently serves as a hostess. As our Children's Church Coordinator, she equips and schedules the Children's Sunday School teachers and puts together the weeks lesson plan from the Gospel Project material. She keeps this ministry running smoothly - and pretty much helps wherever there is a need.

Family: 

Jill has been married to her husband Paul for over 20 years. They have 2 wonderful children, Lindsay and Benjamin, both of whom are pursing B.A.'s at APU. When not busy with her 2 jobs and family, Jill enjoys to spend time working out and leading aerobics classes with her friends. 


Bill Farrar

Accountant

Background: 
Bill received Christ in his youth and has been following him since. Bill is also a CPA, and works for the State of Nevada. He obtained a B.A. in Accounting from the University of Arkansas.

Ministry:
Bill was a founding member of First Family Church back in 2000, and has lent his service to the ministry here since then. Bill is the accountant for FFC and he advises the board of directors in forming the budget and all financial matters. 

Family:
Bill has been married to Barbara for many years and they have 3 adult children named Anna, Zachary and Taylor. His two oldest children have both graduated from Liberty University in Virginia and have given he and Barbara 5 wonderful grandchildren with another on the way.
