Nick Neves

pastornick@firstfamily.us

Background:
Nick first trusted in Jesus after being involved in AWANA children’s ministry and seeing the gospel at work in the lives of his grandparents. Nick completed his bachelor’s degree in English Literature from California Polytechnic University in 2000 and was also involved with Campus Crusade for Christ at that school. After serving for 3 years as the Pastor of Youth at Granada Baptist Church in Livermore, Nick was ordained as a minister of the gospel. He served as pastor of student ministries at First Family Church from 2005 to 2012. In 2006 Nick graduated with a Master’s of Divinity degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.

Ministry:
In 2012, Nick obeyed God in assuming the lead pastor role at First Family. He has a passion for truth and a desire to see people trust in Christ through the preaching of God’s Word. Nick’s spiritual gifting is shepherding and teaching, and he is committed to using those gifts for ‘the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ’ (Eph. 4:12).

Family:
Nick shares the blessing of ministry with his wife Missie and their five boys, Adam, Samuel, Henry, Justus and Benjamin. Lord willing, they hope to adopt a child in the near future. Nick and Missie are dedicated to glorifying God through the covenant of marriage and the stewardship of parenthood, and rejoice in loving God and His people.

Matthew Sherman

(925) 706-1238

mattsherman@firstfamily.us

Background:
Matt grew up going to Trinity Baptist Church in Livermore, and was baptized when he was 8 years old. It was not until he joined the youth group that he fully grasped that having faith in God, was more than just believing in Him, it is also a relationship. From this point on, he has constantly sought grace to serve God through different ministries in the Church. Matt graduated from California Baptist University with a Bachelors in Christian Studies, and from Gateway Seminary with a Masters of Divinity

Ministry:
As a youth, Matt developed a passion for leading people in worship through music. God has blessed Matt with many different opportunities to lead others in worshipping God through songs. Matt also has a heart for seeing youth and children come to know Christ in a personal way. He served as the Youth and Children’s Intern at Bridgeport Christian Fellowship, where he enjoyed not only getting to share the gospel with the youth, but also getting to know them and building relationships. He leads our Sunday morning worship services, and also serves in the Student Ministry.

Family:
Matt met his bride Torie, while serving on one of our Haiti mission trips.  Torie is pursuing for her Masters degree in social work while also working.  Both Matt and Torie look forward to serving alongside each other and supporting each other in the different ministries they are in, as well as consoling each other when the 49ers aren’t doing well (so a lot this season!). (funny - that last bit hasn't needed updating for a few seasons)

Shawn Linder

Chairman of the Board

salinderffc@gmail.com

Shawn grew up in a family that had a belief in God, but he was never taught that faith in Christ was more than mere belief. Through a life altering car accident, he was driven to the realization that he could not control his life. The knowledge that there was a God and that he was sinful and that he needed him, struck him hard. In that moment, he dropped to his knees and cried out to God in repentance and submission to his authority. Ever since then, Shawn has been active in the life of the church, as well as in his personal walk with Christ.

Eileen is also very involved and serves with the student ministry as well.
